She never responded to him once, his anger flickering like ashes in his stomach as he tasted the smoke in the back of his throat. Before he could get another word to this human, she dashed off to the movement he had seen a moment ago. He narrowed his eyes and made his way after her, after all who else is going to help him find what hes looking for? the less that know about it the better.

Once the female had gotten to the other human, who was frantically explaining the situation to her, the girl he had been following moved to try and help the trapped children, watching her try and roll the stone out of the way was nearly pointless, as more rubble above had a pretty high chance of falling if moved "Mouse, try the one over here" he motioned to one closer too him, "it is probably safer to move this one, less likely to crush them." he scoffed slightly, the lady then turned to him frantic "youre a mage??" Akan avoided her gaze, ignoring her question "Let me help you, mouse." he sighed pushing past the lady and grasping the other end of the stone trying to help her move it, what a pain. he thought to himself as he tried to not over exert himself, but be looking like he was being useful.

The stone was too heavy for her to budge alone, but the fae climbed up to help her with it. With some effort the boulder slowly began to lift, and with some more effort, eventually rolled forward, freeing the children from where they were trapped. They scurried out of the pit and embraced the woman who had asked for help.

She was about to turn to the fae and ask his name, since it seemed he was going to assisst her now, when a horn sounded at the other side of the wreckage. She turned to look, wondering if perhaps they were being rescued. Out of the trees, a figure appeared, brandashing a jagged sword, in one hand and a horn in the other.

At this point everyone in the clearing was watching the figure. Ceri couldn't make out who or even what it was. All life on the ground had been wiped out centuries ago, or at least that is what they were told up in the city. The figure raised the horn up again and sounded it once more. More figures, all of them armed slowly emerged from the tree line and began marching towards them. Those closest to them approached them. As the first man came into reach of the mysterious soldiers, calling out in greeting, the nearest one leapt to him, closing the distance in an instance, and cutting him down where he stood.

This caused chaos amongst the survivors, all of them screaming and trying to run from the approaching force. The warriors gave chase, killing any they caught as well as those too injured to flee. Ceri watched in horror as those who were able to survive the fall were killed so easily.

She looked around her, taking note of where the survivors were and looking for an escape. She turned and scaled a piece of rubble that put her high above the ruins, and began to call out to those fleeing.

'Over here! To the woods! Run to the Woods!' Her cries were drowned out in the screams and battle but some of those closest to her, heard her call and changed direction, heading towards her and where she had emerged from the woods.

She dropped down from her vantage point and turned to the fae. 'We need to get going, they'll be on us soon and our best chance is getting into the woods with as many of us as possible.' She walked past him, expecting he would follow, as she hurried to catch up with the woman and children they had helped before, already heading for the cover of the trees.

As the children rushed out from under the rock he exhaled hard causing him to cough slightly fucking ungrateful brats. he thought but before he could actually say how ungrateful they were his attention was caught by the sound of a horn, his eyes adjusted under the sun stood a figure looking down at them, the figure looked ragged and unkept.

Instinctively he reached inside his clothing to grab one of his daggers however before he even pulled one out the human girl leaped up onto the rock and started yelling for people to follow and go to the woods "What- what the hell are you doing?" he asked, though she seemed to not be listening "how you know they dont speak common?? they will just follow us!" he snapped as a few people ran past him towards the way she had said. Akan glared as he seen she didnt hear a word he said and turned leaving him with a follow or don't notion.

Hissing though his teeth slightly, he glanced back to watch the slaughter of people for a moment longer ill be back aldin, wait for me. he thought before turning to follow the girl and the people she called over.

After a few feet into the woods a woman tripped over a large root and cried out, Akan narrowed his eyes at her, however he thought better and grasped her arm roughly causing her to cry out in pain as he pulled her to her feet "you will either walk or i will leave you to die" his tone assertive as the woman nodded and he pulled her arm up onto his shoulder and took off quickly, she wailed in pain with each step onto her ankle, which annoyed him immensely.

Once the sun was just casting enough light for them to see, Akan caught sight of a cave a few yards off to the side of where they were running "over here." he called out, his voice raspy and his chest aching from taking his own and the womans weight.

Once over to the cave he peer inside, his vision was not that of a beastkin but it was good enough to see that it was deep and empty as far as he could tell. He quickly set the woman down on the rock floor and moved into the back of the cave to make sure nothing was sleeping, and it was just their luck as it was empty. Akan turned to look back at the crowd that followed him and the girl, though he couldnt see her. he sucked in making a tch sound before saying "wounded and children stay here, the rest of us are going to get a fire going." his eyes glanced at the crowed, he was never one to take leadership, however these people clearly needed someone with intelligence to lead them, so he was the only one to fit that criteria, he sighed.

Ceri stood at the edge of the woods, directing the stragglers to follow. Once she was sure she had rescued as many as she could she disappeared into the trees with them, out of sight from the fast approaching hoard.

She stayed at the back of the group as they fled, keeping an eye out for thier pursuers, and encouraging anyone who lagged behind to hurry up. The fae from earlier was further ahead, helping one of the injured. As the light was fading he called out, leading the group to a cave.

Ceri stood watch at the entrance as he led the survivors inside. She was suprised he had caught sight of the cave entrance; it was well hidden and easy to miss, a good thing if they were still being followed. She took a moment to sit down and catch her breath and take a look at her leg. Her pants were stained with blood now from how much she had been moving. She wanted to rip the branch out and bandage it up, but knew better. Maybe once they got a fire going she could cauterize the wound?

She could here the fae from before giving orders from inside, but couldn't hear exactlly what he had said. She decided tokeep look out for the moment.

After he was done barking out orders to those who would listen, he inhaled slowly, catching sight of the girl from before, he pushed his way out to the outside of the cave and made eye contact with her for a moment "thought you might have been caught, looks like you were apart of the fortunate few." he glanced back at the group of people they managed to herd to the cave, looked to be maybe 20 if even.

He returned his gaze to her to see that her leg was lifted off the ground slightly, he grabbed arm and forcefully guided her to a sitting position on a rock behind her "let me deal with this." he said in a more snappy voice than a caring voice, as he went to couch down next to her, his eyes guided down her legs and to the bloody wound that was seeping into her clothes. People scurried behind them moving and gathering wood, what they could find to burn and made a nice pile in the center of the cave.

He carefully pulled off her boot glancing up every so often to see if she would flinch away, he then carefully rolled her pants up, exposing her leg to the evening air. He opened his mouth slightly as the full wound really was shown, it didn't go though any major veins, but it was for sure tearing up the muscle and with all the running she did defiantly didn't help. He gingerly placed his fingers onto his smooth skin, it was hot to the touch, hopefully no infection but you could never be too sure. He pulled a small pack out of his kimono, and held a small decorated bottle. Popping the lid off he sighed irritatedly at having to waste his alcohol that he had just purchased. "this is probably going to sting, so try not to kick too much."

After a few moments of letting her breathe, he swiftly grabbed the edge of the branch sticking out and pulled hard, causing the entire stick to be removed with in seconds, almost like a bandaid. he then carefully poured some of the sake onto her wound and blew on it trying to calm the burning, he knew just how bad it had hurt as he had the same thing done to him, he flinched at the flash back.

After he was done cleaning it the best he could, making sure no bark or dirt was left with how much light he had he bit onto the sleeve of his kimono and tore a strip, this was also knew but it was already tattered so there was no point in him trying to keep it nice looking, after tying the make shift bandage up tightly he gingerly rolled her pant leg back over it and helped her put her boot back on. Just as he did they managed to get a fire going in the cave, he glanced up at her to see how she was handling the pain, though he wouldn't admit that he cared what so ever.

It wasn't long before those in the cave were outside looking for firewood, and the fae from earlier approached her. He took a look at her leg and then bent down to examine it closer. He pulled a bottle out, which she assumed was alcohol and got her out of her boot. He gave her warning of what was to come so she turned to look away and grit her teeth.

He pulled the branch out in one fluid motion, but it still hurt like a bitch. She bit down so hard she thought she might crack her own teeth. Before the pain fully subsided, he poured sake onto the wound. The liquid burned as it flowed over and through her leg, dripping off her with a slight pint tint.

He tore his kimono to make a bandage, tying it tightly around her calf. With his help she got back into her boot and stood up, testing her weight on it. The wound still stung from the sake but overall it was much more comfortable.

The light around them was almost gone now, as the others finally got the fire going. Ceri looked over at the fae, who was watching her. 'Thanks for that,' she said, examining him properly for the first time. He was well dressed, but his clothes had obviously been badly damaged. His hair and eyes still stood out to her, they were almost unnatural looking, especially by fire light. 'I'm Ceri,' she said, offering her hand to him; 'I never got your name.'

As she tested the weight on her leg, he could still see visible discomfort, "Its going to be quiet awhile before its back to what it was, i will change and clean it again in the morning." his eyes glancing her over as the fire light reached them, her slim figure shown in the flickering light. He narrowed his eyes at her, she was quiet odd looking, she wasn't someone he would normally associate with as she even looked lower class than him and even more so because she was human.

Nothing looked even remotely special about her, from her dull brown hair to her dull colored clothes. Everything about her was quiet and average, he snapped his attention away from her when i found himself staring at her. It wasn't like he was staring because he liked her, or found her remotely attractive, it was just observing how mundane and average she looked.

After a few moments of holding his gaze to the fire she made a comment that caught him off guard, she said her name was Ceri. ceri.. what an average name, rather fitting. he thought to himself as he narrowed his eyes watching her extend a hand to him, asking for his own name. He was a bit taken back, warily he extended a hand out to meet hers. Her hand was warm but also slightly clammy, probably from the sudden pain she had just experienced, he gingerly shook her hand before reclaiming his own hand "Akan," he started but paused for a moment before he shifted his weight and let out a small cough "What a great mess we got ourselves into, Ceri." he laughed lightly.

The Fae was studying her very closely. His gaze was intense, focused, like he was trying to make sense of something he couldn't understand. After a moment, he stopped staring and turned his attention to the fire where the rest of their group was huddled.

There were even fewer of them now. Many survived falling just to be cut down before they could even get their bearings. Who were those people? What a strange day it had been. The Fae took her hand and introduced himself as Akan. It seemed like an unusual name for a fae.

'Only thing we can do now is try to survive until the angels come looking for us.' There was no telling how long that would be though. The Grey city was in ruins and that likely meant war. Would the angels even consider the possibility of survivors? If so, when would they come looking, if at all?

It had been a long day, she was tired, hurt and hungry, and with no possibility of scavenging for food, the best she coulld do was sleep. 'Goodnight Akan. Hopefully things will be easier in the morning.' She walked past him to a tree, and pulled her self up into the branches. From there she would be able to see the entire camp, and more importantly, anyone who tried to approach. She settled in for the night, nowing it would be a long one.

Akan watched her retreat into the trees, how savage, he thought before turning to look back at the rest of group, however it seems everyone would be living like savages. He sighed irritably before removing his kimono, underneath was a long sleeve black shirt and a pair of tighter fitting black pants that were made of a softer material.

He threw his beaten and torn kimono onto the floor a few feet from the cave enterance, his eyes glancing up to the tree the girl climbed and could barely just see her outline. the sky was dark now and it seemed that no light shown at all from the moon or stars, his eyes adjusted after looking away from the fire for a long time and finally looked out at the forest for the first time, the trees and moss and over growth was everywhere, no man made trails no nothing that looked unnatural, it was almost uneasy to look at.

He eventually closed his eyes trying to sleep, however some of the rag tag group they had left were still talking quietly, a few sobbing, and the rest also trying to sleep. Eventually he drifted off into a slumber.

When Ceri awoke the sun had just started to rise. The camp was silent and the fire had burned out. It wouldn't be long before the rest of the group woke up. She dropped from the tree as quietly as she could and made her way away from the camp, using her staff to help keep weight off her leg. It was feeling a lot better this morning, but it would be best if she avoided strain on it as much as possible.

Ceri wanted to get a feel for her surroundings. She didn't feel comfortable not knowing where she was. There were forests and woods up in the sky cities, but they were tiny in comparison to where she found herself now. It might make anyone else feel lost, but for her, it was a chance for new adventures. If she could she would leave now, and explore the ground alone. However, knowing there were people out there who would not be friendly to her, she knew she would have tostay. For now her best chance of survival was with the group. She had picked a piece of flint off the ground as she went, scratching marks into the trees so that she could find her way back.

It wasn't long before she heard the sound of running water, which she followed to find a small stream. She hurried forward and lowered herself down to drink for the first time since she had fallen. She drank her fill and then took a moment to rest, sitting by the stream in the sun.
